My reflections
As we know, the mythology of Greece includes many unique features, such as strong torsos, and haspeculiar functions. Nevertheless, Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, has an effeminate body that is much different from others. In my opinion, this sculpture reveals not only the background of the time, but also discloses the thought of the sculptor. In the view of materials, the sculptor chose the marble to present his creation.By using the white color of the work to highlight the beauty of tranquility, dignity, and nobleness. In the view of the figures, we can see that it is full of smooth curves, instead of strong lines to stress the outward appearance of man. It strikes a balance between stiffness and flexibility. Also, the sculptor delivered that the time, around 4th century BC , needed some balance, between the art and political crisis. To sum up, appreciating a work of art can stir up my sensitive outsight to realize the true meaning of everything. Also, I can learn to compare works of art that I have ever appreciated.
