My reflections
This animation is made by Phoebe Boswell, inspired by the painting “Combing the hair” by Degas, a painter of impressionism. To Phoebe, the woman in the painting is a prostitute, and the act of combing arouses her memories and imagination. Phoebe depicts a prostitute’s mind by this animation and the aside. I am touched by the contrast transmitted through the scenes of this story.
When we were little, we made new dreams every day, just like the little girl combed by her mother, who told her that:
“with one stroke you are in Rome, with another you are dancing with a prince by a lake”
Days after days we were getting old and our dreams were losing their luster. We became hopeless. However, if we do examine our mind, you will find that like the little girl in the animation, who still keep her dreams, ours will never leave us.
